The pollution of our planet has raised great questions, such as how to manage waste material from mass-market products and how to continue producing new and useful materials that are essential for life. Eco-friendly approaches dictate the modern way of sustainable operations with which we try to reduce the adverse impact of harmful substances on the environment, as well as reduce water consumption and waste production. By making HI hostels more environmentally conscious, the response to the current situation in the world is gradually developing. There is therefore good reason to highlight tourist accommodation establishments in Slovenia which are part of the ecotourism network. Hostel PUNKL, MC Hostel Brežice and HOP Hostel Pekarna are eco-friendly HI tourist accommodation establishments, which help make the world and the environment cleaner.
