While Copenhagen, Denmark, might be the city of choice for many tourists, Aarhus is certainly a noteworthy rival. Situated on the peninsula of Jutland, it is the second largest city in Denmark, with theatres, attractions, entertainment, shopping opportunities and Michelin starred restaurants.
Aarhus provides year-round entertainment. The alcohol free festival, Smells Like Teens designed for teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17, will be held in September. If you are a foodie, be on hand for the Food Festival which also takes place in September. The International Guitar Festival in October has something for everyone regardless of your musical taste. Take a walk on the infinite bridge – built for the ‘Sculpture of the Sea’ festival in Aarhus – positioned on the beach and in the water, or swim at the picturesque beach,
Den Permanente, with Riis forest in the background. Visit the iconic City Hall tower designed by Arne Jacobsen, the art museum ARoS which offers spectacular views of the surrounding areas from Olafur Eliasson’s circular glass ‘
rainbow panorama’, Tivoli Friheden, Aarhus Concert Hall, and Den Gamle By with museums, exhibitions, and the Jazz Bar, Bent J.
