An introduction of a HI hostel in Liège
Wallonia, the French-speaking part of Belgium, is home to the city of Liège, the cultural capital of the said region. It straddles the Meuse River. Liège is also known as the fervent city. And it affirms its nickname on a daily basis. It’s a lively city with a multitude of bridges.
The newly renovated Georges Simeon hostel is just 10 minutes away from the busy Le Carré neighbourhood and the historical Saint-Lambert Square. Thanks to renovation, the hostel became more comfortable and more photogenic, since it has a lot of new and interesting furniture. Recycled materials and furniture from the previous hostel were used during the renovation. Lamps shades have been turned into new couch covers and the new tables are made out of pallets. The hostel is suitable for solo travellers as well as families and larger groups. Plus, you can wake up to some delicious breakfast made with fresh local ingredients. Groups can even pick a menu. The special thing about the hostel is that it has four studies that can hold seminars, workshops and business meetings.
The city hosts a plethora of events. When in Liège, you must experience the life of the locals. They gather at the Marché de la Batte Market every Sunday. One of the most picturesque festivals is held on the Assumption on 15 August and is visited by more than 300,000 people each year. The city is quite lively during fairs as well; the October Fair lasts for six weeks. It’s worth visiting Liège during the Fête de la Musique Festival when the streets and bridges are filled with the sounds of music. The city’s surroundings are diverse. You can go explore the Han Caves. There’s a tram, which takes you all the way to the entrance of the caves, so you’ll be ready to discover the underground chambers. A safari is located right next to the caves and is home to reindeer, bears and other species of wildlife. The best thing about it is that you can buy one ticket for both attractions.
