Four new reasons to visit Australia

Content
With a network of 90 quality hostels all around the country, YHA Australia is all about destinations. And in the past year four new hostels have joined the network offering uniquely new Australian experiences.

Award-winning Phillip Island YHA - The Island Accommodation is your gateway to one of Australia's most famous islands. Located in a short drive from Melbourne, this stylish, modern, purpose-built backpackers hostel offers comfortable lounges, gourmet-style kitchen areas, large balconies and a rooftop deck.

Home to the famous nightly parade of Little Penguins, Phillip Island also offers a host of other attractions and events. The island's natural beauty and laid back lifestyle makes it the perfect place to relax. Visit the Koala Conservation centre, walk deserted beaches, explore the rugged coastline or take a wildlife cruise.

This new Port Macquarie YHA is a little more akin to a resort than a regular hostel. Only five minutes stroll along the water from the town centre, it’s set in tropical landscaped grounds making the hostel an ideal base to unwind. Guests can relax in the poolside cabana, swim, or snooze in a hammock under palm trees, make new friends with a BBQ in the cosy courtyard.

The mid-north coast of New South Wales is an ideal stop off  for a journey along the Pacific Highway from Sydney to Brisbane. Port Macquarie is known for its beautiful beaches, attractive waterfront, local attractions and mild year-round climate. The seaside town is home to the unique, and free, Koala Hospital, as well as beach camel riding.

This brand new Port Lincoln YHA has been converted from squash courts into a contemporary hostel featuring a mix of private and multishare accommodation for up to 80 people. There is a four metre replica shark and shark cage in the reception for unique photo opportunities.

Port Lincoln is definitively Australia’s unspoilt adventure playground for extreme experiences. Famously known as the shark cage diving capital of the world, there is no better place to come eye to eye with a great white shark. Whilst visiting this outgoing town, guests can also swim with blue fin tuna - or for a playful experience, swim with the mischievous sea lions. Needless to say Port Lincoln will also dish up a serve of the best seafood you will ever experience.

If you like deserted beaches then put Mission Beach Retreat YHA on your Australian wish list. The hostel which has been recently renovated is perfectly positioned in the middle of World Heritage rainforest, by the beach and with the Great Barrier Reef on the doorstep. The hostel is also within walking distance to shops and restaurants.

Mission Beach is conveniently located between Townsville and Cairns, and is made up of four beach villages linked by 14 kilometres of wide golden beach. The town is a perfect base to relax and explore this unspoilt natural environment. Visitors to the beautiful little beachside town will enjoy the blending of an immense natural environment along with the town’s unique cultural scene and tourism attractions, including white water rafting.
