A brand-new youth hostel in a historic building: In the centre of Kaub, a small town directly situated on the right bank of the river Rhine, an ancient »Administration Office« has been converted into a youth hostel and opened recently. It is a perfect combination of a modern guest house and the original building, which has been erected in the 16th century.
The youth hostel is suitable for wheelchair users and offers overnight accommodation for 138 guests. The sleeping rooms with one, two, four and more beds are all supplied with showers and WC. There are a dining room, a bistro and common rooms for up to 150 persons.
Kaub is located in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, the most romantic section of Germany’s largest river. Carving into the Rhenish Slate Mountains, castles and vineyards alongside the river bends form picturesque surroundings. This specifically applies to the »Loreley Valley«, named after a mythological woman. In the year 2002 the region around the towns of Bingen, Rüdesheim and Koblenz has been acknowledged a World Cultural and Natural Heritage by the UNESCO. It is an ideal area for hiking and bicycle tours as well as boat trips on the Rhine. Many loops of the river offer spectacular views such as the »Loreley« rock (125 metres) and »Pfalzgrafenstein« Castle, the landmark of Kaub. In the year 1326 it was built on a little island right in middle of the Rhine.
