A little culture: or, things you mustn’t miss
So here you are in Lyon! These things you just have to see: Notre-Dame de Fourvière basilica, place Bellecour (city square), the Opéra Nouvel (New Opera House), the Musée des Beaux-Arts (Fine Arts Museum), and the jardin archéologique (archaeological garden). Those places will give you a taste of the town’s rich heritage.

A little exploring: the traboules
There’s no way you should leave Lyon without exploring the famous traboules like before eating out in a bouchon lyonnais. Vous ne comprenez pas? Translation: pass from street to street via little alleys leading through courtyards, before dining out in a typical cosy restaurant. Ah, now I understand! And whatever else you do, make sure you look around the old Lyon district.

A little art: the wall paintings
Did you know that Lyon is the European capital of wall art along with Berlin, and one of the top five top cities in the world for wall paintings? Wherever you are, round the next corner there’ll probably be a huge mural looming over you. A useful app to download (not free but less than 1€) is Les murs peints de Lyon. There are over 100 murals to be discovered around the city, so plenty to hunt for!
