Cherry Blossoms

The Cherry Blossom Festival is above all a popular celebration that tries to reflect the life of an entire region, both past and future. For this, they organize all kinds of activities that serve as a showcase for culture, gastronomy, traditions and way of life.

Of special interest are the wineries, forges, mills that for a few days are shown as they were 50 or more years ago when they had a leading role in people lives. Houses that are preserving the traditional architecture of the area open their doors and show how ancestors lived in them.

But what most astonishes and attracts the visitor are more than a million and a half cherry blossoms. These offer a show that is hardly comparable to anything else, since it is a peculiarity of a valley. The locals welcome and show their homes’ treasures to every visitor who wants to share the joy they feel when the spring arrives.

The ideal way to see the flowering is to take a tour of all the towns that make up the Jerte Valley, so you can enjoy different perspectives. But it must be taken into account that, normally, not all cherry trees bloom at the same time; first they bloom the ones that are located at lower altitude, and as the days pass the cherry trees of the rest flourish, finishing with the flowering of the colder zones or of greater altitude.
