On my visits I discover ...
-the towering peaks and breathtaking valleys of the Kamnik and Savinja Alps;
-Logarska dolina, Robanov kot and Golte - three of Slovenia's best known nature parks (www.logarska.si)
-the Savinja River, fed by playful streams and the mighty Rinka waterfall
-Mountainous plateaus, subterranean worlds and the Snežna jama snow cave (www.tic-luce.com);
-the footsteps of Ice-Age hunters in an exhibition at the Potočka zijalka cave.
Along my path I enjoy ...
-the taste of traditional cuisine such as 'uppersavinja stomach';
-learning about ancient customs, songs and stories (www.ztksm-mozirje.si);
-homely farm stays, the comfort of local hotels and guesthouses and humble mountain huts and camp-sites;
-outdoors activities from hiking, mountaineering, horse-riding and cycling, to archery and rafting
-in winter, cross-country skiing, sledging and skiing amongst the snow-covered slopes (www.golte.si).
I stop and admire ...
-the beauty of the landscape (www.logarska-dolina.si);
-the alpine flowers in the garden 'Alpinetumu on Golte' and the blooming beds at 'Mozirski gaj' flower park (www.mozirskigaj.com);
-the history and heritage of the local woodsmen and raftsmen, at the Timber Raft Collection and Museum of the Forestry and Timber Industry (www.muzej-vrbovec.si);
-the magnificent Cathedral in Gornji Grad and the impressive Library in the Franciscan Monistery at Nazarje;
-the pleasant sound of the 'zither' (a centuries old musical instrument) and the harmony of traditional folk song;
I have a deep respect for the landscape, nature and the ways of the people.
And, dear travellers, you are invited too!
