From the interest of Qatar Youth Hostels to keep up with global private events, which have to do with the objectives of youth hostel movement, youth hostels organized an activity on the occasion of Word's Environmental Day on June 5th of each year under the slogan "Fight Against Illegal Trade in Wildlife" at Al-Laqtah. Employees and guests of Qatar Youth Hostels attended the event. They showed a documentary film about environment in Qatar as well as a film about how to prepare house garden and how to take care of it.

Mr. Abdul-Aziz Al-Amari – The Executive Director of Qatar Youth Hostels and the President of The Arab Federation of Youth Hostels Associations – confirmed that taking care of the environment is one of the priorities advocated by the
International Federation of Youth Hostels. For this, The Executive Board of Qatar Youth Hostels developed a plan to convert youth hostel to a green hostel, which is environmentally friendly, to rationalize the use of energy and to achieve the principles of sustainable development. We are interested in celebrating this global event to raise the awareness of participants in the activity about the importance of preserving the environment, especially as this day is an opportunity for everyone to recognize the responsibility to take care of the ground and to become an agent of change.
A Journey to Banana Island
Within its tourist program "Know Your Homeland",
Qatar Youth Hostels organized a special program for its members to Banana Island.
Mr. Abdul-Aziz Al-Amari said that the aim of organizing this event is to familiarize participants with the historical places of our beloved country (Qatar) and to look at the cultural aspects that form a wonderful picture of Qatar.
He added that Qatar Youth Hostels are interested in organizing a continuous internal tourist trips to introduce the most famous tourist, cultural and sports destinations through the programs of globetrotting that are interested in organizing trips several times during the year.
Mr. Abdullah Ali Al Shayb – program supervisor – confirmed that the program of "Know Your Homeland" aims to strengthen the sense of citizenship and affiliation among the participants and to enhance the positive aspects of their personalities by increasing self-reliance, communication, building bridges of good relations with others and gaining new friendships. Also, it contributes to introduce the most important tourist, cultural, historical, scientific and sports areas in their homeland as well as, to know the most important achievements of the country at all levels. In addition, the program aims to increase the environmental and tourist awareness among the participants.
A Training Course of Safety
Qatar Youth Hostels in cooperation with the General Administration of Civil Defence organized a training course about safety under the title "My Security and Safety of My Culture" as part of "The Path of Safety " project in AL-Laqtah, with the participation of a large number of members and guests of Qatar Youth Hostels.
Qatar Youth Hostels Administration wanted to provide the highest level of security and safety at the hostels, and increase the importance of team work. Members and employees of youth hostels tried themselves in the most modern security and safety, firefighting and first aid help.
Mr. Abdul-Aziz Al-Amari said that safety is the most important thing. He was also satisfied with the participation of youth hostels members and the participants in the training course. He also confirmed that youth hostels were interested in organizing such training courses, which contribute significantly in developing the skills of team work.
