When you decide to escape the every-day routine and enjoy the world through nature, take some time to think, Mount Ivanac is the perfect choice. The mountain with 1167 metres will definitely impress you. The town is named Torreano and is in the municipality of Udine.
An easy path will fill you with new energy and maybe even spiritually enrichen you.
There are many starting points for climbing the Mount Ivanac. A ride through Slovenian and Italian hills to Cividale del Friuli is beautiful and you continue your way through Fojda and Čenebola. You can park by the church of St. Anton and make your way up to the beautiful views. The mountain is grassy and evenly goes uphill so you can really admire the amazing views. You will also be able to see the Adriatic sea if the weather is clear.
Ivanac is a wide hill that is lowering to the west. It is the last tall hill before Friuli lowland. From the main hill you can see the village Črni Vrh, Mija, Krn and Matajur. The southern area from the main hill is also picturesque and there is a military road through it, which offers a great goal for mountain cyclers. Ivanac definitely offers the best views right after Matajur in Slavia Furlana.
Time has impacted every single local of this area as it has a big Slovenian minority since 1918 when 60000 Slovenes were living in this area. It is also worth to see Slavia Furlana and to know the history of these places that the locals really like to say in their dialect.
It is also worth mentioning that the locals call this area Benečija, nevermind which language they speak. And the history of this places again calls to a more tolerant, understanding relationship to one another, to the nature and to the history.
