Art and flavours at Salento Hostels

First you will be able to get to know the local handcrafted products and the food, which grows on this land. Join in an ancient crafts workshop or just admire the embroidery, papier-mâché or just try their pasta, bread or cakes.

The entire stay in Puglia and Basilicata will be accompanied by the cuisine and wine. Every day, you will learn something about the culinary tradition of another food, characterized by this land – bread, focacce, panzerotti, rustici, typical sweets, mozzarella, burrata, salami, fish and meat, extra virgin olive oils and wines. Your daily programme will consist of visiting the most prestigious food and wine companies and of lessons where you will learn about traditional Apulian cuisine. After the whole day of “learning”, you will finally get to taste the food in local restaurants. In winter, you will also get a chance to try new wines and be a part of olive harvesting and olive production.

Puglia, known as an important wine production area, has been recognized by the international wine tourism sector since 2013, being named "Top Wine Destination 2013" by "Wine Enthusiast” magazine. With the night parties and festivals spread throughout the area, the daily life is mixed with all these elements of tradition and modernity.

Urban Oasis Hostel

“Caesar’s Garden” Hostel
In Alezio, a few steps from Gallipoli, the pearl of Ionian Sea, is located “Caesar’s Garden” Hostel (Giardino di Cesare Hostel). The hostel offers comfortable rooms, from two to a maximum of twelve beds per room, with a beautiful view to the large garden, from which, in fact, the hostel takes his name. Our guests can enjoy the common spaces inside the hostel, all furnished with care, and the marvellous garden for relaxing while reading a book or a magazine, using the free wi-fi, watching TV or meeting other travellers. Here, you will be able to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner, made with local products and wines. If you’re a museum enthusiast, you will be amazed by our Archaeological museum with its private collection. Rent a bike, a sailboat or hike in the regional natural park Ugento. After a whole day of sports, you have to try typical Salento pastry workshops where you will create pastries such as Pasticciotto Leccese, Pupe della Nonna.
