A dive into the South Steiermark wine land
On the Slovenian-Austrian border we find beautiful land of vineyards, which hides many treasures that bring joy to all senses. Gamlitz is one of such places. A small municipality which is connected to larger organizations works perfectly coordinated and is prosperous in every field. Their biggest gain is the
Motorikpark Gamlitz, which opens up on June 3rd 2012. In stretches over 10 hectares and offers about 100 different devices that wake up our motoric senses. The most numerous guests are children, for the park also features a smaller swimming pool.
With locals being really proud of their culture and region, the coat of arms already features wine grapes. Everybody is caring, attentive and nice, and the centre of the town offers peace and neatness. There is also a miniature golf terrain nearby, very cute between houses and gardens. The structure of the town is changing, because they need to move or rearrange all public organizations by 2015, so they can be accessible for handicapped.
The town also features the beautiful Schloss Gamlitz, with its wine museum and a glamorous wedding hall. The reception we got from the tourist guide – an elderly gentlemen/historian – was a real honour, for he took us back in time with stories that will remain with us forever. And we must not skip the culinary treatment, with meat specialities, homemade juices, extraordinary cheeses, great wine and refreshing vegetables that flirt with your senses.
The symbiosis of the people and the region is everywhere, so the family, which runs the family and
restaurant Weingut-Buschenschank Gallunder offers a varied culinary treat on an excellent location with a great view of the valley. They also gained the award for the nicest location when it comes to the flower arrangements.
At the tourist information point you’ll get all the information about possible trips and culinary treats, such as Vulcano schinken, Zotter chocolate, Riegesburg, Genusshotel …So take a day trip just across the Slovenian border when you reach the wine, milk, chocolate… and many more roads.
