This Easter, Discover Armagh City, The Christian Capital of Ireland

Content

The ancient cathedral city of Armagh is Ireland’s oldest city with its history reflecting over 6,500 years of religious activity.  In 444AD, Saint Patrick chose Armagh as a base from which to spread Christianity in Ireland.  Saint Patrick built his first chief church in Ireland on the site of the current Church of Ireland Cathedral in Armagh, which is a breathtaking monument open to visitors, and currently situated on the Hill of Armagh, overlooking the whole city. This is joined by the equally stunning Roman Catholic Cathedral, a striking, twin-spired cathedral on an elevated site, a must see for any one visiting the city.
