The Hostel Portimão is one of the most popular among young people who want to experience not only the beautiful beaches of the Algarve, bathed by a calm and warm sea, but also the lively and long lasting Algarve’s nightlife. This revamped hostel offers modern, comfortable and well-equipped facilities and accommodates 180 guests in a choice of 26 twin en-suite rooms (four suitable for wheelchair users) and 32 four-bedded rooms.

To savour the spirit of Portimão, there is nothing better than to sit in the shade of the trees in the gardens Manuel Bívar and forget about time, to watch the fishing boats and to walk trough streets and squares that exude the ambience of an active, hard-working town which has succeeded in keeping pace with progress.

Praia da Rocha, which is one of the most popular resorts in southern Portugal, is the reference point for beaches. Located by the mouth of the Arade river, this beach extends over a huge area of sand some 3 kilometres long irregularly broken up by odd rock formations that the sea has been carving out throughout tens of thousands of years. This is also the right spot for nightlife lovers, with lots of places offering you a sparkling and exciting atmosphere!

Here there is everything to ensure the best of holidays in the sun!

The Alfeizerão Hostel – São Martinho do Porto is located 8km far from São Martinho do Porto beach in the centre west of Portugal, offers modern, comfortable and well-equipped facilities, providing 62 beds in three twin en-suite rooms (one suitable for wheelchair users), seven four-bedded rooms, three six-bedded rooms and two eight-bedded rooms.

With about 3 km of a sandy beach forming a shell shape around the sheltered bay, São Martinho do Porto is a very appreciated summer resort. The calm sea has the perfect conditions for both children and nautical sports such as windsurfing, sailing and canoeing. Close to São Martinho do Porto you can find beautiful beaches of fine sand and sheer cliffs standing out against the crashing sea, such as Peniche and Nazaré, both typical fishing town.

Apart from the beaches this is also a zone of great historical and cultural interest to discover! You can start by visiting two UNESCO World Heritage sites: the monastery of Santa Maria de Alcobaça, an architectural masterpiece from the early Gothic architecture; and the historic monastery of Batalha famous by its Manueline style and the amazing vaulted ceiling of its Chapter House - without any central support, it’s one of the most daring examples in European Gothic architecture. Not to be missed in the region is the town of Óbidos, which has been impeccably preserved within the medieval walls of its Moorish castle. The city of Caldas da Rainha, which owes its name to the thermal spring much loved by Queen D. Leonor, wife of King D. João II, and well known by its ceramics internationally renowned for its figurative and satirical works it is also worth visiting.
