Vibrant hotspot as meeting point

It’s ready! On Friday 12th August this year, the brand-new Stayokay hostel Utrecht – Centrum is open to guests from Utrecht, from the Netherlands and from abroad. And with that, one of Stayokay’s great wishes has been fulfilled, seeing that up to now the centre of Utrecht had hardly any budget ho(s)tels. From now on, it’s possible to stay inexpensively in the city centre of Utrecht, in this hip hotspot which suitably reflects Stayokay’s updated concept. This is a place where you can feel, see, experience and get the taste of Utrecht, and where everyone feels at home. In short: the place to be!

With the coming of this acquisition in the former office building of ABN AMRO, Stayokay’s portfolio in the Netherlands now amounts to 24 hostels. Stayokay director Marijke Schreiner: “This is our flagship hostel, a place where everyone feels at home. Here you can have a drink with friends during a performance by a local band, you can meet people from all over the world, or you can find a mobile workplace. There is something for everyone.” The official opening of Stayokay Utrecht – Centrum will take place on the 5th of October, with plenty of spectacular moments such as a stand-up comedian, a hostel tour and local surprises.

The Fifth
At this new Stayokay location, guests from the Netherlands and from all over the world as well as locals meet each other in the trendy, accessible lounge ‘The Fifth’ on the first floor of the hostel. From there, not only can you enjoy the splendid view of the Neude and the Dom, you can also relax here with delightful cocktails and small dishes made from products from Utrecht and the surrounding area. But rest assured: here, you can also get down to work if it just has to be done, but in a very pleasant, relaxed manner in Stayokay style.

Staying at Stayokay
With 258 beds in 60 rooms, there are plenty of possibilities for couples, groups and families to lodge in 2, 4, 6 and 8 person rooms or in private rooms. All rooms have their own shower and toilet and have been given a new look, in accordance with a surprising concept.  The bunk beds – specially designed for Stayokay – have an inbuilt USB connection. The Auping double beds in a 2-person or a 4-person room (combined with a bunk bed) are completely new. The view from the rooms varies, and mostly you look out from your bed on to the splendid Neude or the spectacular Dom. In the hostel you can eat, drink, sleep and enjoy yourself to your heart’s content! The menu offers many local products – so just try them...

Sustainable
Stayokay is strongly committed to corporate social responsibility. In this hostel, therefore, sustainable choices have also been made regarding the materials and products used and the working methods. For example, the hostel has been fitted with an extremely strong bamboo floor and the staff wear recycled MUD jeans and shirts made from biological cotton. In the restaurant, sensible & biological products are available. Besides that, we involve Stayokay guests in the responsible Stayokay lifestyle by asking them, among other things, to spend less time under the shower and to separate waste.
