This May the Zurich Youth Hostel celebrates its fiftieth anniversary. Although the main building is already half a century old, it doesn’t look like it at all. This is due to an extensive renovation which took place between 2002 and 2004. Since then the hostel offers a spacious modern lobby as well as a modernly furnished inner courtyard as a meeting point for international globetrotters and unpretentious yet comfortable rooms with two to six beds. In the Zurich and all other Swiss Youth Hostels guests sleep under duvets; the bed linen and breakfast is always included in the price.
The
Zurich Youth Hostel is open around the clock to enable travellers to really get to know the compact, cosmopolitan city. From the hostel it takes only 15 minutes to get to the main station or in the heart of the city. A five-minute walk takes guests to the shores of the lake. And the “Rote Fabrik” youth cultural centre is just a short step further.
The city of Zurich is always worth a visit and never ceases to surprise: sometimes it appears as a brash, bustling metropolis, the next moment it exudes calm and leisure in the streets of the old town. You’ll feel at ease here, thanks to Lake Zurich. On its banks you can marvel at Alpine panoramas, stroll through parks and watch sailing boats on the water. In summer, numerous public swimming pools are open. If it’s adventure you’re seeking, you won’t go lacking, especially at night: Zurich’s nightlife is renowned beyond the national borders. Countless concert venues, discos, cosy bars, small places of refuge for late-night revellers: it’s all here. Whether quiet or loud, small or large: in Zurich your every wish will be granted.
