Hostel Brežice is located in a region, which is rich with cultural heritage, but also with variedly natural beauty, that offers visitors a possibility of new findings and expanding knowledge on ecosystems of our district. Guests, that decide to find accommodation in Brežice, can experience an educational adventure in the world of different ecosystems, vegetable and animal diversities, which is provided on four educational paths. These paths are excellent field trips for organized groups from school or different associations.
Educational path Cerklje by the river Krka is appropriate for children as for adults, eager to learn something new and for lovers of the nature. This area of natural and regional features also familiarises visitors with historic attractions. Entire viewing takes from 4 to 5 hours and it stretches on 5.5 km of surface. The path is equipped with informative boards for better understanding of the feature of this place. On this path the visitor can take a look at a meteorological observatory, vineyard cottages, bridges, sanctuaries, karst phenomena and on a warm day also take a swim in Klunove spa in Bušeča village , where also our most famous poet France Prešeren occasionally went for a swim.
In the vicinity of Brežice, more specifically in village Kapele, one of the most important floodplain called Jovsi is located , where a so-called Kosec's path is prepared. The mentioned area of floodplain meadows offers sanctuary to numerous rare and endangered animal and plant species. This 5 km long path in the Pannonia part of Slovenia spreads out to the church, vineyards, ornithological observatory and offers a possibility of viewing the only confirmed nesting ground of a bird named Kosec in the Slovenian language . In the tourist information room, which is actually a media schoolroom, visitors learn about natural surroundings of this place via a documentary film, different panels and /or other animations.
