Cologne offers many events that are worth visiting, e.g. colourful carnival, Cologne Pride and various Christmas markets. Cologne can be named as the capital city of the carnival in Germany. During the »crazy days« the »fifth season« culminates into a huge public festival. People dress up, sing local songs and simply have fun.

The Cologne cathedral is the most famous building of the town and the river Rhine. More than seven million people visit the Roman Catholic church every year. It can be seen from nearly every point in the city centre and from many places elsewhere: The magnificent Cologne Cathedral hovers above the roofs and chimneys of the city. It is not only used as a point of orientation but is the pride of the people in Cologne. The panorama of the city has been dominated by the Cathedral's gigantic pair of towers since their completion in 1880.

Opening its doors in July 2010 within short walking distance to most of Cologne's sightseeing highlights, the youth hostel called »Pathpoint Cologne Backpacker Hostel« offers you comfortable, clean rooms in an old church building. Above all backpackers will be welcomed by a friendly staff, available 24 hours / day. The hostel is located close to the main train station and international bus station of Cologne.

This place once designed for baptizing and weddings is now a shelter for travellers from all over the world. Only a crucifix in the entrance area recalls the initial purpose. Located centrally next to the main train station this youth hostel is ideal for backpackers. Even in other respects this location meets the requirements of individual travellers: Decent room rates (from 17 Euros onwards including bed linen) as well as modernly designed facilities (e.g. lounges with internet terminals on the galleries) and individual catering options (fully equipped self-catering kitchen units). An all-you-can-eat-breakfast is being served for 4 Euros. 34 two to eight-bedded rooms with 161 beds are available. The youth hostel is open 24 hours.

This building is now the third youth hostel in Cologne. Recording all together 1.200 beds and 250.000 overnight stays per year DJH is strongly present in Cologne unlike any other city in Germany.
