We have a little tip for you. Malta! For those truly willing, watch this beautiful video about Malta first. Are you back in the real world? Great. Once you have feasted your eyes, you can now also read some things about it.
The famous St. John's Co-Cathedral, which does not look like anything special on the outside, will enchant you on the inside, as every inch is covered in gold, marble and colours. The capital of Malta, Valletta, was built by the Knights of St. John, or “Knights of Malta”. Since Malta was almost conquered by the Ottoman Turks, the knights built a large defensive wall that successfully defended the island from enemies. Today, you can walk along the edge of the city, see the walls and the port. Malta's original capital is Mdina, and its streets are definitely worth a stroll to get a feel for the medieval spirit and escape the modern world for a while. Get there with public transport for a lower carbon footprint.
Have you heard of the Calypso Cave? They say that this is the cave that Homer wrote about in the Odyssey. If it's that beautiful, you can see for yourself, but I'm sure you'll be enchanted by the view from the cave to the nearby beaches. Malta consists of three islands - Gozo, Comino and Malta. You can go to Gozo by ferry and enjoy the beautiful views there as well.
Miran Šinko wrote his Maltese story in three parts. Read it and follow in its footsteps. Our student Tilen, who is passionate for good food, visited Malta during the holidays and indulged in culinary pleasures. Good company, great food in an unforgettable destination is one of the nicer gifts you can give yourself. A great two-part travelogue was written by our volunteer Nastja, who went on a real Maltese adventure with a friend.
